The Wick Law Office Wins Discrimination Claim Against The United States Postal Service

The Wick Law Office is pleased to announce a recent victory on behalf of one of our federal sector clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). In this case, our client alleged that his employer, the United States Postal Service (USPS), subjected him to discrimination and harassment when it failed to provide reasonable accommodations for his service-connected disabling medical condition and when it subjected him to ongoing retaliation and harassment. An administrative judge with the EEOC found, even prior to a hearing being held, that USPS failed to accommodate the client when it delayed the approval of his requested accommodation for months. After a hearing was held with the EEOC administrative judge, the judge issued a decision finding that USPS also subjected the client to retaliation and harassment. As a result of the violations of Title VII and the Rehabilitation Act (in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act), USPS was required to pay the client compensatory damages, restore leave he took as a result of the discrimination, pay back pay, and reimburse attorneys’ fees and costs. The Postal Service also was required to provide anti-discrimination training to the involved USPS agency officials and post a notice stating discrimination was found in the workplace.
